Old Pictures and Old People

So in cleaning out a box, I found an old picture of me and someone else. Whatis it about old pictures, that when you see them, but you haven't seen the person in a long time. Almost always when you look at old pictures you remember the day, the picture was taken. The event, the randomness, the group, anything.

Is it bad to feel nostalgic? To miss the person, the way things used to be? Not to go back to them but to miss it. Sometimes you move forward happily, glad to go forward and leave things and sometimes people behind. But there are sometimes people you wish you didn't have to leave. But life happens and then 4 years later you get nostalgic for senior year of High School. The spring break trip, with snoorakus and cheesey eggs. The homecomings, performances, jumping in the creek, the 2 proms gone funky. The works.

I think the real question is do you regret losing those times, sometimes. But what I've gained is irreplaceable. The future always leaves things open, ie when a door closes god always opens a window. I will soon be a godmother to a 2 year old. How scary? I am old enough for a friend of mine to be married with a two year old. But I love that 2 year old dearly!

So is it always bad to look back on old relationships, and miss the past? No, but life is in the future.
